Fluorescent fingerprint powders are designed to develop latent fingerprints on multi coloured surfaces. The powders have fluorescent properties and may offer a better contrast to the background than conventional powders.
 
An alternate light source is required to examine the developed prints in fluorescence. The yellow and green fluorescent powders will fluoresce when excited with light from UV up to blue (450 nm). The red, orange and pink powder allow for a broader band width of light, from UV up to green (530 nm).
 
These powders are best applied using a feather duster.
